| KONTRAPUNKT |
one of the most vintaged theatre festivals in Poland, turning 43 this
year.
|
| KONTRAPUNKT |
organised by City
of
Szczecin and co-hosted by Teatr Lalek „Pleciuga” (Pleciuga Puppets
Theatre), Teatr Współczesny (Contemporary Theatre) and Ośrodek
Teatralny KANA (KANA Theatrical Centre). The festival is an event
integrating the whole artistic environment of Szczecin with theatre
artists, writers and poets, fine and photography artists among them.
|
| KONTRAPUNKT |
exposes the latest trends
and
developments in Polish theatre. It confronts the achievements of
recognised artists with interesting experiments by the emerging
artists. And it presents two competitional streams: for institutional
and uninstitutional theatres. Besides the Jury Awards, the general
public gives out Grand Prix, the major prize of the festival.
|
| KONTRAPUNKT |
presents the diversity of
theatre
languages and styles what is underlined by its name „Kontrapunkt”
(Counterpoint)
introduced 14 years ago.
|
| KONTRAPUNKT |
most of all means meetings
where
the world of culture and arts can meet not only with exceptional
spectatorship, but also with the scientists and theatre theorists. For
a number of years the festival invites eminent personalities to take
part in organised symposium that ends up with books documenting those
sessions.
|
| KONTRAPUNKT |
invites to get entertained
not only
by theatre arts and craft of our neighbours from behind Oder. For many
years the festival presents German performances and visual arts
exhibitions. And for some of its editions a part of the festival event
takes place in Germany: Schloss Brollin, Pasewalk, Greifswald.
|
| KONTRAPUNKT |
is also an unexpected
wayfaring
through fascinating places that are not necessarily theatrical by a
definition. During the festival’s latest editions theatre crossed over
thresholds of a train engine old workshop, an unfinished office
building and the Lentz neo-baroque villa. Theatre presentations and
concurrent events take places near at all cultural institutions of
Szczecin.
|
| KONTRAPUNKT |
brings out many events
satysfying
taste of the most demanding spectator. Besides theatre spectacles, the
festival also offers concerts (including brave presentations of
experimental music in co-operation with musica genera festival),
meetings with theatre personalities, film projections, new book
promotions.
|
| KONTRAPUNKT |
is also an exhibition
gallery
unrestricted by any exhibition space. In each festival presentation
place one can see photography exhibitions, instalations and sometimes
brave artistic visions of the formally undefined works. Also, there is
organised an international photography plain-air with its effects later
presented on a number of concurrent events.
|
| KONTRAPUNKT |
means evening discussions
with
artists and spectators meeting together in comfortable atmosphere of
the festival club – KANA CELLAR. A wide offer of its bar and kitchen
specialities adds up to the taste of the discussions.
|
| KONTRAPUNKT |
brings together over seven
thousand
spectators. And the majority of them are the young theatre lovers for
whom the Szczecin festival is a forum for the most interesting events
of theatrical Poland.
|
| KONTRAPUNKT |
brings together a hundred
more and
less known actors, directors and theatre critics and theorists. Big
names, famous faces, respected pens and radio voices, but also budding
artists. Many of those well known personalities started among beginners
