PARANOICY I PSZCZELARZE / PARANOIDS AND BEEKEEPERS
A documental performance. Among the texts used here there were reports I am an average man by Monika Redzisz (Zorka Project) and Zdzichu, spare the embarrassment by Grzegorz Sroczynski, texts from the press and quotations of public figures. Group production.
The performance "Paranoids and Beekeepers" was conceived from a sense that we are living in a schizophrenic, divided world, which is governed by two opposing narrations. Our wish is to show these two trends of modern Polish reality. One of them – the aggressive, flowing loud from the media, national and patriotic, which is trying to build our identity on the fundaments of history, distinction and pain.
And the second one, which is rolling on somewhere by the shore, much quieter – not taken into consideration by the everyday show. It is created by “ordinary” Polish people, who “walk alone” – curious about the world, open to other people, they determine their fate by the struggle for dignity. They fight for their own debate, and so therefore they expand spiritual space of our society.
Our attempt is to juxtapose the truth of documentary with the language of grotesque and over-expression – to combine simplicity and restraint with visual effects. We are telling true stories from the stage because we do not want it to be a fictional story, but actually, contrary to fiction which is surrounding us, we wish it to be true.
